The 2018 World Captive Forum (WCF) was held in Fort Lauderdale Florida from January 31 to February 2, 2018. SL FINANCIAL attended the conference as service provider of actuarial consulting services for captives. Here is a brief overview of the sessions we have been able to attend:

  • Captive 201: highlighted the fundamentals and recent developments
  • Pooling in microcaptives: provided best practices for small captives along with concept of pooling and pricing
  • Reinsurance in the Aftermath (2017 storms and quakes): presented a reinsurance market overview along with case study on the use of parametric protection for a captive and reinsurance strategies for small captives
  • Managing risks in a captive’s portfolio: presented an overview of roles and responsibilities along with the management of diverse risks in captive’s portfolio
  • Latin American captives: presented the universe of captives in Latin America
